Vacation @ Tyson and Carries

We had the best time at Tyson and Carrie's. Carrie drove us to the most beautiful beach in California, Malibu. We played in the sand and the water. Zachary and Shanna started the water fun and I joined in with the boogie board. It takes some practice but wow is it fun. We got to see the life guards patrolling the beach and also to see what a rip tide looks like. They would call out on the PA to get out of the water when it got real bad. Tyson and Carries house is in one of the coolest places I have ever seen, Oak trees, big ones like I have never seen. The house is kind of hidden down off the road, with all kinds of foliage adorning the front grounds and large pine trees to side of the driveway and a really big Oak just in front of the house. It smelled like we stepped into the forest when we first got there. Carrie is a fantastic cook and homemaker, We ate well and had a lot of fun with Carrie and the boy's. Tyson had the opportunity to get some overtime on our last day so we didn't get to see him much our last day. Tru didn't have enough time to warm up to Me, but Shanna got to where she could hold him and Zachary was having a blast playing with him. I think Zach is going to love being a big brother some day.

Greetings from mom!

Dad and I got home from Salt Lake on Thursday evening. While we were there we went to the Joseph Smith film at the JS Memorial Building. It was very touching and helps us to realize all the trials that Prophet Joseph Smith went thru and also the trials of the early saints. I have to ask myself if I could have been strong enough to survive the ordeals that they went thru and I come up short I'm afraid. They were definitely strong and committed. Dad and I went to the temple on Thursday morning and were asked to be the witness couple! What a privelage that was and what a delight to attend a live session! It has been a number of years since we have been to one. It was wonderful! While we were in SL we stayed at the Grand America Hotel. What a grand place that is! I have never in my lifetime stayed in such a nice place! They turned our bed down everynight and laid out robes on our beds and also put chocolate on our beds every night! The bathroom had a separate dressing area. The fixtures in the bathroom were all gold and the shower was glass. They had bubble bath and when I used it the bath water came out fast and beat those bubbles into huge frothy mountains of bubbles. It was awesome!! After we got home Thursday evening grandpa mowed his lawns, then went to work on Friday and after he got off work we went to Pocatello to help Jer and Robyn move to Morgan. We got home late Sat. night and went to bed and died. Dad slept until 10:30 then we went to Sacrament meeting, came home and took a nap! We must be getting old! We talked to Josh on Sun. and he is doing great. He has a wonderful, upbeat attitude and is looking forward to fast-roping next week. That is where they come out of the helicopters down a rope to land in a place. He said there are a few broken ankles when they do this drill. Remember him in your prayers---he doesn't need anything broken! The heat there has been awful but he has done okay. I didn't mention that Jer and Robyn's new home is lovely and Morgan is a nice little town--hope you can go visit! Now they need to sell their home in Chubbuck!!!! We are doing good!! Our garden is delicious! Love you! MOM

Hiking

Ryan and I went to Lake Independence yesterday with the 11yo scouts. We stayed at the campground at the bottom then hiked up this morning. But last night we watched the meteor shower for a while. It was pretty cool. The lakes were beautiful, but it was a lot of work to get to them. It was about 3 miles to the first lake and about 1/2 mile to the next two. We were worn out so we didn't go up to the forth. Ryan and the other boy caught lots of frogs and polliwogs at the third lake. I think that they had fun. But I don't think that we will be doing that again for a while. I may not even be able to walk for a while. Did I mention that it is really steep. Well we had fun. Wes
